Maybe you can get an emulator for the System you want to play it, and then try it that way, but it's not gonna be fun as you need the controller guitar to play it. Just buy the game. I think there are versions for almost every system out now, you should have one system at least right?

by emulator do you mean a clone i so theres
Frets on Fire its good
Guitar Zero its even better but harder to find
and you can use the controllers but you would need a usb hub for your PC that allows you to plug in ps2 controllers or if you have the 360 controller like me you can just plug it in and play.
